Warriors, Orlando Pirates star launches foundation to assist the elderly
Orlando Pirates and Warriors winger, Kudakwashe Mahachi, has launched a foundation to assist the less priviledged and the elderly in Bulawayo.
Mahachi, whose team narrowly missed out on the ABSA premier League title in South Africa to Mamelodi Sundowns, is currently on off-season break and will soon be part of the Zimbabwe national team preparations for the Afcon finals in Egypt.
The talented star said he was touched by the plight of the elderly in his community to start the Kudakwashe Mahachi Foundation that will be mainly based in Makokoba and Mzilikazi.
"I grew up in Mzilikazi and went to Mzilikazi High School so these are places l know and l used to see as l passed by sometimes as l went for training so l understand their situation. The situation touched my heart and l know the economy is tough in Zimbabwe but l just thought of buying a few items for them," the former Bantu Rovers, Highlanders and Chicken Inn player said.
Mahachi has played for South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows before he was snatched by the Buccaneers.
He donated groceries, bed linen and sanitary ware at Ekuphumuleni Elderly People’s Home in Bulawayo.
The player said as an orphan, felt the need to assist the less privileged members of the society.
