Teenagers in court for brutal murder of sex worker
Two teenagers arrested for allegedly murdering a Harare commercial sex worker who made a name by terrorising clients in Harare’s Avenues areas on Wednesday appeared before Harare Magistrate.
The duo, aged 15 and 17 respectively are alleged to have murdered Samantha Hlahla for ritual purposes and were arrested as they attempted to sale her blood to a traditional healer.
Hlahla was found in a pool of blood in her apartment two weeks ago.
Indications were that a robbery had taken place before she was murdered.
The teenagers were arrested in Epworth and appeared in court where they were denied bail by Magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa.
Mugwagwa asked members of the public out of the gallery to allow the case to be heard in camera.
It emerged that the murder happened for ritual purposes after the teenagers approached a traditional healer for money making charms.
The two were alleged to have been asked to collect human blood and when they were arrested detectives discovered calabashes of blood in their house.
Meanwhile, the traditional healer is likely to appear in court tomorrow.
