Ehud Musariranwa (50) appeared before a Mutare magistrate, Perseverance Makala, and pleaded not guilty to a malicious damage to property charge. He was remanded to October 6 on free bail for trial.
Prosecutor Fletcher Karombe accused Musariranwa of damaging Nyasha Kavhukatema’s vehicle on September 15 when he allegedly threw a spike after noticing him parked at a prohibited area in the city. The vehicle was towed away and Kavhukatema was asked to pay $80 in fine, which he refused. He later reported the matter to the police leading to Musariranwa’s arrest.
Government recently banned the police from throwing spikes at vehicles, with President Robert Mugabe leading the charge.
