Minister praises Mudzidzi Wimbo church for adopting ICT

Information Community Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister Supa Mandiwanzira says ICTs were key in ensuring development in the country.

Minister Mandiwanzira was speaking after handing over 25 computers at the Mudzidzi Wimbo’s Johane Masowe Vadzidzi VaJeso-owned Centre Zimbabwe Africa High school at the church shrine in Madziva, Mashonaland Central on Wednesday.

He applauded the church for embracing ICTs and described President Robert Mugabe as the champion of ICTs through his e-learning vision that began more than 20 years ago.

Mobile network operator NetOne donated 3000 branded exercise books to the school and pledged to construct a base station for the more than a million of followers who congregate at the shrine each year.

Chief Madziva, from Mashonaland Central said he was pleased with President Mugabe’s work towards development.

The church is aiming to build a college, a university and a hospital in line with Mudzidzi’s vision. The school currently has 170 learners.

Mandiwanzira took time to interact with Mudzidzi Wimbo after the donation and tour of the school.
