Kasukuwere confirmed the suspension of councillor Macharangwanda (Ward 5), Wilton Janjazi (Ward 38) and Urayai Mangwiro (Ward 37)adding that he will not tolerate corrupt public officials.

“We have suspended them, we don’t want thieves in local authorities,” he said.

The trio will appear before a Tribunal.

“You failed to float a tender for the rehabilitation of Firle Sewage Treatment Works. You being a member of the Municipality Procurement Board during the period under review which is on or around 2010, were required to float the tender in terms of the city of Harare procedures,” read the suspension letter in part.

No comment could immediately be obtained from the councillors but the MDC-T said the suspension was politically motivated.
