Khupe showers praises on ED
...God will bless us if we are united, says ED
MDC-T president Thokozani Khupe on Friday showered President Emerson Mnangagwa with praises for innitiating a platform for dialogue to allow Zimbabweans to find solutions to problems bedevilling the country.
In giving a vote of thanks at the launch of the political actors' dialogue in Harare, Khupe said the platform was a "defining moment for Zimbabweans."
“This dialogue is bottom up. It is not about Mnangagwa or Khupe, it is about you, the people of Zimbabwe and I hope you take it to our structures and people we represent.”
Khupe turned into a preacher and commanded that "no evil formed against this dialogue shall prosper" and that "everything we wish for and we pray in Jesus' name shall be given unto us."
"This has never happened that a President calls all participants to the election are invited for dialogue. I don't even have words to thank you your Excellency. l want to invite my colleagues to thank you for such a platform," she said.
In his address Mnangagwa said God will bless Zimbabwe if there is unity and peace.
“We say no to conduct and speech that will bring harm to our people. It is with that unity that God will command more blessings for our country,” Mnangagwa said.
“This journey must ultimately lead us towards improving our democratic practices.”
At least 18 political parties were in attendance but with the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa conspicuous by its absence.
Mnangagwa said the platform was meant to proffer solutions to problems bedevilling the country.
“I am a listening President and I will continue to listen. Every Zimbabwean is important,” he said.
He said leaders must instil hope and trust among citizens for a better Zimbabwe.
