President Mnangagwa and Minister Chasi

ED drops Minister amid energy crisis

President Emerson Mnangagwa on Tuesday reassigned Energy Minister Jorum Gumbo to a Minister of State for Presidential Affairs in charge of Monitoring.

Transport deputy Minister Fortune Chasi has been elevated and has since replaced Gumbo.

Chasi's immediate task will be to offer solutions to the deepening energy crisis that has seen power utility, Zesa, engaging in loadshedding.

While the power cuts continue without any solutions on sight, Chasi will also face a daunting task to deal with the fuel crisis gripping the country currently.

Mnangagwa also appointed Engineer Mackenzie Ncube as the new chairman of the National Oil Infrastructure Company (NOIC) board.
